Half of Private Sector Workers have No Paid Sick Leave
Nearly half of all
full-time, private sector workers have no paid sick days
to care for themselves or a family member who is ill,
and only one in four low-wage workers have paid sick
days.
The Healthy Families
Act, introduced in both the Senate and the House on
March 15, would give seven (7) paid sick days per year
to workers to care for their own or their families’
medical needs. The bill would apply to employers with
15 or more employees, and would allow those employers
who already offer sick leave to maintain existing
policies that meet the standards of the act.
